HEART MANUAL – Minority group DVD project – Summary

Commenced May 09  - one year project

Aim is to create a resource accessible to all levels of literacy and ethnicity, and to be a standalone Manual, in effect, an alternative to the existing manual.

The DVD will include the option of 5 languages and If possible,  the inclusion of  ‘British sign language’

Based on the information identified by the Minority Groups Literature Summary it was agreed that a DVD was the most appropriate format.

The team reviewed existing DVDs such as those produced by the BHF and more local versions  and identified companies who had been associated or had the experience of producing this type of DVD.

The team are building  up a base of contacts, who are willing to support and review the  material for inclusion on the DVD as work progresses, including access to  patients for ‘case studies’ and potential film work.

Contact with  existing users of our translated tapes and new users to the CAD manual who works in areas where there will be high impact of minority groups.

The review by patient groups will be essential to ensure positive uptake of the DVD
